The refurbishment of narrowboats and widebeams is an increasingly important part of our business at Boutique Narrowboats. We offer an interior design service for private clients which pulls together the skills of the whole team – engineering, joinery, electrics, plumbing and of course the design itself. The images below help to illustrate a typical narrowboat refurbishment.
Narrowboat and widebeam refurbishments
In this narrowboat refurb, we gutted the interior and set to work rebuilding it to our new design. The previous toilet space on this day boat was cramped and difficult to access for cleaning. We designed a toilet ‘pod’ with more generous proportions, which meant borrowing some space from the entrance area.
Our signature curved steps helped to widen the entrance to the side. It’s a visual device which is particularly useful here, with the extended toilet room. We threaded new plumbing and wiring throughout, including central heating.
MDF moisture-resistant tongue and groove board was painted with exterior grade paint. Our joiner installed a brand new kitchen. We finished the toilet pod with bespoke slats.
The finished boat includes bespoke wooden slats, new herringbone flooring and a full kitchenette.
